Thsi is the proposed company share sale of an established and profitable business. Well recognised as an online ecommerce retailer of home improvement and home decor products.

The company sells directly from stock held in their warehouse premises. They have a well-promoted and high-ranking website, plus strong presence on online marketplaces with a particular focus on Amazon.

Sales and business performance has been closely monitored since the peak Covid years, and recently there has been a shift in focus to more profitable lines. Products are sourced from the UK and EU, with no overall concentration on any one supplier.

Since 2022 steps have been taken to reduce overheads and to concentrate the business on more profitable products and channels. In particular website sales have improved extensively as there has been a focus on web presence and advertising, although online marketplaces and in particular Amazon continue to deliver strong results

Additionally, the company have extended their exclusive ranges as there is a greater ability to control prices and margins. Exclusive product sales account for around 25% of all revenues.

Opportunities

  • Increase the range of exclusive designs which deliver more profitability.
  • Scale the size of sales on marketplaces both UK and internationally to improve the distribution and availability of the full range of products
  • Reduce overheads by consolidating some operational and office processes.
  • Introduce more automation to dropship processes to rapidly increase number of SKUs available to customers. There are some current limitations because of the manual processes in place.
  • Modernise and automate the wholesale department so that customers can place orders through the websites rather than having to currently rely on more manual processes. This would free up time to work on more new business development and actively target companies that could buy regularly in the future.
  • Expand operations into new product categories. The company have such a large and established presence on marketplaces, and great operational processes, that any future owner could decide to stock and sell any product sets and sell these through the established, existing marketplace accounts. These orders could be fulfilled using the existing carrier contracts already in place or indeed the buyers own carrier network.

Reason for sale

The current working owners/directors are looking to retire. With family ties overseas they wish to spend time between the UK and abroad. Recognising the value of a quality handover they are willing to remain for a handover and consultancy and/or employment period of up to 12 months.
