The Company serves a diverse, multi-segment customer base both locally and globally with international purchasers drawn to the unique British gemstones offered and exclusive collections.
Historically, the business focused on own‑brand jewellery and benefited from steady growth over a long trading history. During the Covid period, the Company experienced a significant increase in demand and a strong trading performance followed. Shortly thereafter, Management implemented a growth strategy focused on network expansion and the development of new commercial partnerships with watch and jewellery brands.
As part of this strategy, the Company invested heavily in the development of a major new flagship site, funded through a combination of new borrowing and working capital. The scale and timing of this investment placed increased pressure on the balance sheet as borrowing costs rose, compounded by a weakening trading environment driven by reduced discretionary consumer spending.
